As the above article explains, Utah is last in per student spending --again. And again, the excuses employ the same old memes: We do a lot with a little, Utah's big families, high tax burden etc. And while there is some truth there, there isn't nearly $4,000 worth of it--the difference between Utah and the national average. Imagine what we could do for an investment per student of a little more--maybe even 1/2 that gap. Or would it be all wasted on more "opulent" new schools. Yeah, world class schools: Who needs those?
